Saddle Brook Travel Soccer Coach Requirements

All Travel Coaches must complete the Saddle Brook Township Volunteer Requirements and additionally they must complete the NJYS Coaching Requirements listed below

NJYS Travel Coach Requirements - Saddle Brook Sports Connect Portal

All NJYS coaching requirements are managed through your Sports Connect/Stack Sports account.

• Volunteer Registration

• Note: Your Social Security Number is required during registration as part of the background check process - Only the background check has access to this information and it's not visible by any of the program admins.

Log into your account here:

Saddle Brook Sports Connect Portal

Once logged in:

• Go to the Volunteer section.

• Click Renew & Update next to each listed requirement to complete it. You will be asked to upload certificates where needed, and others will be marked completed automatically as you go through the requirements. See below for more details

1. NJYS Background Check

• The necessary information is collected during the regular coach registration process. If you already registered as a Volunteer (Head or Assistant Coach) your background check was submitted as part of the process and you can check the status - Risk Status - under the Volunteer section of your profile.

2. Coaching Education

• The easiest option is the online Grassroots course (7v7, 9v9, or 11v11) via the U.S. Soccer Learning Center.

• First, create a free account and complete the Intro Course.

• Then register for your selected Grassroots course ($25 — will be reimbursed upon completion).

3. Concussion Education

• Fulfill this by taking one of the following free online courses:

  • CDC Heads Up!

  • NFHS Head Injury Awareness

• After completion, download the certificate and upload it to your Sports Connect account.

4. SafeSport Training (Annual)

• Must be completed annually, with a certificate dated after January 1 of the seasonal year. SafeSport Training must be initiated through the Sports Connect Volunteer requirements section. See top of this email.
